Math and Science
We offer children the natural world as their science curriculum, as well as experiments, observation and experience in real life math as often as possible.

Through careful planning of the environment and the use of math manipulatives and very limited skill/drill activities, the children will practice mathematical reasoning, problem solving, engage in real world math components and work in numerical and mathematical problems.

Our curriculum will also use the following published texts:
Great Explorations in Math and Science
Hands on Standards K-8

History and Social Studies
The world in which the child lives is the foundation for our history curriculum. We work with the children to develop first an understanding of their own world, the home in which they live, the town or city in which they reside, and the community they are involved in. As they gain a sense of their local world, we move to the larger sense of the world, the global community in which we all live. Our children are growing up in a very connected world, we want them to feel safe and empowered to make decisions about the world, as such, we will discuss local, state and national politics, as well as global politics.
Newspapers, news stories, texts, journals, movies and the internet may be accessed to gain an understanding of the world. We will discuss social justice, environmental justice and tolerance/acceptance as part of the curriculum.
Speficially we will use resources and curriculum developed by Teaching Tolerance, as well as A Starting Small Project.
